Trikala INFO (read this before you do the test)

Trikala is a beautiful city built on the location of ancient Trikki (according to mythology the nymph Trikki was the daughter of Pinios).

There is a river that crosses the city of Trikala by the name Litheos. There are a lot of bridges over Litheos and the Central Bridge of the river was constructed in 1888.

Near the Central Bridge there is a statue of Asclepius, who was the ancient Greek god of Medicine.

Inside the city and over a hill there is a Fortress (which was buit in the 6th century a.c.) containing the City's Clock. The height of the clock is 26,60 m.

A main attraction of Trikala is the Osman Shah Mosque or Kursum Tzami. Kursum or Kursun in Turkish means lead metal and is used for the construction of the roof. The mosque was founded by Osman Shah, also known as Kara Osman Pasha. Osman was the son of one of Sultan Selim I's daughters, and for a long time dwelt in Trikala as the governor of the local province . He built that mosque at 16th century because he was cured from a serious disease.

One of the most famous songwriters of Greece was born at Trikala, Vasilis Tsitsanis. Tsitsanis was also a great bouzouki player.

A beautiful neighborhood of Trikala is Varousi. Varousi is a territory of Trikala with old houses.

Trikala is called also the Greece's Capital of Christmas. There is a big fair every Christmas at the Mill of Elves (old mills). The number of people that passed the gate of Mill of Elves at 2016's Christmas was 900.000!
